PURPLE SAPPHIRE - 1.19 CT
Purple sapphires are rare. Most buyers have never seen one in person — the colour occupies a narrow space between blue and pink that requires a very specific trace element chemistry to produce, and fine examples are considerably less common than the blue material that dominates the Ceylon market.
This one is 1.19 carats of soft, saturated purple — the kind of colour that shifts slightly depending on the light, revealing different depths of violet and grape at different angles. Rectangular cushion cut. 6.90 x 5.74 x 3.17mm. The proportions suit the colour — the cushion's larger facets allow the purple to read with full saturation rather than breaking it into smaller flashes.
Heated, as most Ceylon material is — the colour is permanent and the treatment is standard practice in the sapphire trade. What is not standard is finding a purple of this character at this carat weight from Ceylon origin.
